The Fine Art Trade Guild specifies five acceptable levels of framing utilising different qualities of materials and framing techniques. These levels range from Minimum through to Museum, a brief description of each is given below as it affects the cost and more importantly, the level of protection and conservation for the artwork

Museum Level
The highest quality framing available but using premium grade materials for lifetime protection

Conservation Level
Our
preferred minimum level of workmanship. All techniques are reversible and use conservation grade materials to protect the artwork.

Commended Level
F
or items of moderate commercial or sentimental value but using "standard" work practices. Even at this level, we do not use standard mountboard.

Budget Level

For the budget conscious but not recommended for any items of value.
We do not frame at this level.

Minimum Level
As the name suggests, framing to a minimum quality and budget. Only suitable for low value items.
We do not frame at this level.

At Ian Kenny Framing, there are only three people who will ever frame your work - Ian Kenny GCF, Andrew McLaren GCF and Craig McKenzie GCF. We are available for you to discuss the best way to present and conserve your artwork for the future. The link opposite will explain exactly what Guild Commended Framer means for you and your artwork.

We stock literally hundreds of different mouldings from the worlds' top suppliers, and consistently check deliveries to ensure the highest quality of wood is always used for our customers frames.

Preservation of artwork is always an issue. We exclusively use the Artcare Archival mount system, for use on collectible artwork that is to be kept for future generations, eg Original paintings, limited edition prints of moderate to high value, as well as items of sentimental value.
