Rob
Piercy was born and brought up in Porthmadog, North Wales. He trained as an art teacher
and taught for 15 years. He left teaching in 1989 to concentrate solely on his painting.
The Rob Piercy Gallery was established in 1986, by
today the gallery has grown into a spacious exhibiting area where the visitor can see a
large selection of Rob Piercy prints and original watercolours. His favourite subject
matter are the mountains and the gallery always has a good selection of mountain
watercolours for the visitor to see.
Rob Piercy has been climbing and walking the hills
of Snowdonia since his school days. Nowadays he wanders the mountains in Britain in search
of inspiration for his watercolours. His images of the mountains are not comfortable,
rarely will you see a cosy cottage or rustic bridges. His pictures are high up amongst the
crags and heather rain and snow. His palette is bleak, blues and browns, but the setting
is vast and dramatic, often painted looking directly into the light.
The Mountain Landscape Collection is a range of
limited edition prints aimed at the lover of the mountains. The images represent favourite
mountain locations throughout the U.K. with the ultimate aim of providing a comprehensive
collection. These are prints of the highest quality, using the best inks and paper, and
printed by a reputable and experienced fine art printer.
Rob Piercy is a member of the Royal Cambrian
Academy and the Watercolour Society of Wales. He has had numerous solo exhibitions, mostly
notably an exhibition on Snowdon at the Museum of the North in Llanberis in 1993 and 1995,
High Places at 0riel Ynys Mons in Anglesey. He has exhibited at the prestigious Singer and
Friedlander/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition at the Mall Galleries, London in 1994,
1995 and 1996.
In 1996 he won first prize in the first
Watercolour Society of Wales open exhibition at St. David's Hall, Cardiff. He is a regular
exhibitor at the Albany Gallery in Cardiff, having taken part in several group and solo
exhibitions there.

Artists Summer Exhibition at Hebden Bridge and was elected a Fellow of the Society
